Why the name?
For millennia, people across Europe, as well as Native American tribes, named the months after the full moon. Here are the monthly full moon names.So the full moon in January is the 'Woolf Moon'.
'Blood' comes from its red hue caused by the lunar eclipse.
'Super': the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth.
